The 66th North South Conference took place at the Glen Royal Hotel, Maynooth on May 10th and 11th 2024. The theme of the weekend was ‘Living Well in Ireland’ and members heard key notes from Systemic Coach Norma O’Kelly, who spoke about the journey and closure and SIGBI Director of Membership Dishi Attwood who spoke about the positive benefits of volunteering.
Panel discussions followed each key note with Soroptimist members, Immediate Past President SI Northern Ireland and retired consultant pediatrician specialised in severe pre-school neuro-disability Barbara Carlisle and former National President SI ROI, and former Minster of State in Health Promotion and Older People, and now CEO of Third Age Áine Brady. The second panel that joined Dishi was with former National President and HSE Lead for Healthy Ireland Sarah Mc Cormack and Creative Life coordinator at Mercers Institute for Successful Aging at St James’s Hopsital Roisin Nevin.
The highlight for all was our joint public speaking winners from North and South Fiza and Cliodhna who delivered their speeches, and received a standing ovation from all attendees.
Members started the weekend in style, with a round of golf in the K Club.
The Gala dinner after the conference was a special occasion where new friendships were formed and was a great excuse to get glammed up!
