Objectives & Principles

In order to guide our behaviour and activities, we observe and apply the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and, in particular, the Convention to End all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) as well as the Beijing Platform for Action and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

Soroptimist International is a global volunteer movement working together to transform the lives of women and girls with nearly 72,000 Members in 121 countries.

In Ireland, we have 15 Clubs that work at a local, national and international level to educate, empower and enable women and girls to reach their potential.

Clubs choose projects that work towards ending poverty, eradicating abuse and hunger, providing education for all, achieving gender balance and preserving the environment.

Soroptimists transform the lives and status of women and girls through
education, empowerment and enabling opportunities.
