About

For over 65 years, we have supported our local community, including the relocation of the “Skiddy’s Homes” for the elderly and the founding of the Cork Youth Orchestra. We have also supported many other charities and organisations, most recently raising funds for our sisters in Ukraine. Each year, we also sponsor a junior school choir with a bursary and plaque at Feis Maitiu. SI Cork has had several National Presidents, including Maeve O’Hare, 1956-57, Muriel Bowers 1979-80, Tess Hogan 1995-96, Ann Jackson 2005-06. Muriel Bowers became SIGBI Federation President 1984-85, when Federation conference was held in Dublin. SI Cork, in conjunction with our ‘friendship club’ SI Bangor, actively supports ‘Brighter Communities Worldwide’ based in Kenya.
