Over 250 soroptimists gathered in the Ferrycarrig Hotel on Saturday to celebrate Nollaig na mBan (Women’s Christmas) as the Wexford branch hosted an event which sought to highlight the work of the charities it supports. Members were joined by National President of Soroptimists Ireland Aisling Nolan.
The lunch had a fundraising element for Cycle Against Suicide, which is a national charity wholly funded by volunteer donations which runs educational programmes on suicide prevention in primary and secondary schools. The charity was recommended by President Sue Karran, who cycled from Malin to Mizen Head in 2022 with fellow soroptimist Phil Lynch.
“SI Wexford are honoured to support this worthwhile cause,” said PRO Barbara Harrison, “we thank our friends and families who join us on this joyful occasion for food, fun and friendship. We would like to thank staff of Ferrycarrig Hotel, particularly Michael, for the professional arrangement, and friends and businesses of Wexford for so generously giving us such wonderful raffle prizes, helping us raise over €8,000 on the day.”
